What do you want for your life? What prevents you from seeking and reaching your goals? Hopefully, you recognize that the biggest culprit is yourself. Yes. You. Obviously, life happens and things can get in the way which may impede our progress. However, progress, no matter how small, moves you closer to your end goal. Oftentimes, we become our own biggest offenders due to internal hang-ups and thus creating our own personal roadblocks and setbacks.
Here are three potential major roadblocks that you may encounter at any point in your journey and they are known to show up repeatedly.
Fear. This is normal and common and most experience it in some variation. It can range from minimal to high anxiety levels. The key is to work through it anyway. You can defeat fear and all you really need to gleam from it is what does not and what does work. This is your exploratory phase.
Self-Doubt. This offender is a pain in the butt. Not only does the voice and sentiments of others seep in, but you are joining the crowd in berating your own abilities. Also, in this phase you are comparing your life to others instead of focusing and defining things on your terms. What does success look like to you? What does a win look like to you? Do you base these barometers on the rules that you set for yourself.
Procrastination. What do you keeping putting off? Why? That dust bunny can stay in the corner; you really don’t need to take care of it when your focus in the moment is to actively work towards a goal. Household chores, social media, and television are for many the main distractors or deflectors. When tackling a task and you find yourself going off course, ask yourself what is more important. Or, why are you avoiding the task? Be honest with yourself when giving a response.
This list can probably go on and on, but this is just a starting point to get you to not only think, but gear up for action. Get ready to share your gifts with the world. They were given to you for just that purpose not to contain it within yourself due to fear, self-doubt, and procrastination. Let this stuff go and allow your light to shine. There are others out here who need and want your gifts.
“You playing small doesn’t serve the world. There’s nothing enlightening about shrinking so others won’t feel insecure around you. As you let your own light shine, you indirectly give others permission to do the same.” ~ Marianne Williamson
